Google discounted two of its current phones ahead of Black Friday: the flagship Pixel 7 and the budget Pixel 6a. The devices are still on sale, and they’re still an excellent deal.
Amazon has officially discounted the Pixel 6a. The device is usually a $450 value, but you can get it right now for $300 — knocking off a whopping $150 from its retail price, or 33% off. If you’d rather go up to the new generation of Pixel smartphones, the Pixel 7 is usually $600, but you can get it right now for a more reasonable $500. It’s not $150 off like what you’d get with the Pixel 6a, but $100 off for one of the best smartphones in the market is still pretty reasonable.
Google Pixel 7
Google’s 2022 flagship smartphone has a fast Tensor G2 chip, two rear cameras, and 3 years of OS updates.
Google Pixel 6a
The Pixel 6a is Google’s current budget phone, with the same Tensor G1 chip as the Pixel 6 and excellent cameras.
The Pixel 6a is still a very strong phone, even in 2022. It comes with Google’s Tensor SoC, which also powered last year’s Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro, and it comes with very reasonable specs for the price, with the Pixel 6’s only real downgrade being the camera — and it’s not even that bad, since it’s comparable to the camera in the Pixel 5. In the case of the Pixel 7, you get a full flagship package with a second-generation Tensor chip and Google’s amazing 50MP rear camera.
The Pixel 6a will receive new major Android OS updates until July 2025, and monthly security patches until July 2027. The Pixel 7 will get Android OS upgrades until October 2025, and security patches until October 2027. That’s still not iPhone-level longevity, but it’s one of the best promises you’ll get on an Android device.
